Piloto português mantém o primeiro lugar na classe Veteran Trophy
O experiente piloto Mário Patrão, continua a demonstrar uma grande performance na Classe Veteran Trophy do Dakar 2024. No dia de hoje, Patrão a competir este ano com a nova Honda CRF 450 RS2 Rally, conquistou mais uma vitória na 8ª etapa do Dakar, que ligou Al Duwadimi a Hail.
O piloto português percorreu na etapa de hoje 678 quilómetros, onde voltou a vencer entre os veteranos. Com este resultado, Mário ascende ao 16º lugar do Ranking Rally 2.
O piloto veterano, tem mostrado uma condução consistente e segura ao longo desta 46ª edição do Dakar. Nesta 8ª etapa, Mário completou o setor seletivo de 458km em 4h22m27s, enfrentando uma trajetória que alternou entre areia e pedra, tornando-se por vezes mais acidentada. Na classificação geral, Patrão mantém-se confortável na liderança da Veteran Trophy, dispondo de uma vantagem de 3h41m07s para o 2º classificado.
À chegada ao acampamento, o piloto comentou sobre os desafios da prova: “A navegação este ano prima pela extrema dificuldade. Se perdes o foco um minuto, deitas tudo a perder. Tenho feito o possível para segurar o primeiro lugar na minha classe, que é o objetivo pelo qual lutei e me preparei. As dunas hoje, fruto de estarem molhadas, tinham regos enormes, o que potencia quedas, como a que tive na semana passada. Optei por fazer uma condução focada, sem erros e, acima de tudo, sem quedas. Já só faltam quatro etapas, tenho de gerir bem, para que o primeiro prémio vá para Portugal”, revela Mário Patrão, também patrocinado pela BAHCO”, revelou o piloto de 37 anos.
A etapa de amanhã, a nona desta edição, vai conduzir a comitiva de Hail até Al Ula. A especial terá 417 km e 222 de ligação. Poucos, ou nenhuns, dos principais concorrentes terão tempo para apreciar as magníficas paisagens desta etapa, que os levará ao limite. O início da especial aparentará ser rápida, mas essa ideia rapidamente dará lugar a uma outra bem distinta. Os pilotos, que terão de lidar com rápidas mudanças de terreno e manter um equilíbrio entre confiança e habilidade para navegar nos planaltos rochosos.
