O piloto português António Maio (Yamaha), completou a primeira fase da nova etapa maratona de 48 horas do Rali Dakar 2024. Esta etapa, inédita na competição , testa os limites dos pilotos, ao exigir que os mesmos realizem a manutenção das suas motas sem assistência externa.
Terminando a primeira fase desta desafiante etapa , António destacou-se com um bom desempenho. Iniciando o dia como o segundo a partir para a pista, o piloto português manteve um ritmo consistente e árduo ao longo do trajeto , onde percorreu 513km de um total de 626km em 7 horas, 32 minutos e 3 segundos.
Esta noite, António Maio juntar-se-á a outros 11 pilotos de elite no acampamento F, localizado no deserto. Um dos sete acampamentos improvisados criados especificamente para a etapa, onde os pilotos irão repousar em tendas, e terão rações militares fornecidas pela organização da prova.
A sexta etapa do Dakar prosseguirá amanhã às 7 horas, com o português a enfrentar os restantes 113 km do percurso. Após este esforço, o piloto e os seus companheiros terão um merecido dia de descanso em Riade.
