Dia menos positivo para a equipa portuguesa
A equipa portuguesa Franco Sport enfrentou algumas dificuldades na 4ª etapa da 46ª edição do Rali Dakar, realizada ontem. Mário Franco e Daniel Jordão, a bordo de um Yamaha YXZ 1000R Turbo T3, na categoria Challenger, que estavam na 8ª posição na metade dos 299 quilómetros cronometrados até Al-Hofuf.
No entanto, a sorte da equipa mudou. Apesar de um furo no pneu ao quilómetro 60, que conseguiram resolver, um imprevisto mecânico a apenas 34 quilómetros do fim da etapa impediu-os de completá-la sem assistência. “Atacámos muito, vínhamos muito depressa, mas estáveis a gerir bem a corrida, tivemos um furo ao quilómetro 60, mas mesmo assim vínhamos bem, a tirar muito prazer da condução, a explorar mais o carro e a conhecê-lo melhor quando, a 34 quilómetros do fim, tivemos um percalço no carro que deitou tudo a perder. Tivemos umas horas à espera do camião de assistência, que nos iria rebocar. Não conseguimos concretizar o final da etapa pelos nossos próprios meios”, lamentou Mário Franco.
A equipa teve que aguardar horas pelo camião de assistência da X-Raid para ser rebocada até ao controlo horário e, posteriormente, ao bivouac para reparos. Agora na próxima etapa, os pilotos terão de enfrentar o deserto Empty Quarter. Serão 118 km de especial em 727 km totais, numa mistura de trilhos de areia e dunas.
